JNV - Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalays are an autonomous body working under the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt Of India. Navodaya Vidyalayas came into existence as a part of the New Education Policy 1986. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas were planned to set up in all the districts of the country in order to provide a Quality Education to the children with special talents belonging to rural areas.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are located all over the country including lakshadweep and A & N islands except the state of Tamilnadu. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are co-educational, fully residential schools up to Senior Secondary level and are located mainly in rural areas. At present approximately 555 JNVs are functioning all over the country. They being fully residential institutions,all staff members and the students live in the campus. The main objective of JNV is to provide good quality modern education to the talented children predominently from the rural areas, without regard to their family's socio-economic condition.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti through its eight Regional Offices ensures all round development of the personality of the children by providing good academic guidance apart from input in other non-scholastic areas by providing good facilities for Sports, NCC, Scouts & Guides, Adventure activities and Computer education etc.
